Update 21 September:

I spoke to the tourism people near the bridge and they said despite Saturday’s rainy weather the forecast is good for Sunday. But just in case bring some rainproof wear just in case you need it.

We will be going by minibus inshallah so the cost will be lower than mentioned below, however, this will be offset by the fact that the cost of the cable car return journey is 22CHF.

Finally and most importantly I was told that the earlier we arrive the better, otherwise we could end up in a long queue for the cable car. So please, please arrive at Altstetten station BEFORE 7.30am as 7.30am is the time that I want to depart so that we arrive around 9am inshallah. This should also mean that we could be back in Zurich around 3-4pm.

The Trifft suspension bridge is a great place to visit high up in the Alps and the moderate hike up is sure to make you sweat. But once you’re up there, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains around you and the glacier beneath.

Getting here by public transport is a mission so the plan is to hire a Mobility car (or two depending on numbers) and go in groups of 4 or 5 splitting the cost between ourselves (it will be around 40-45CHF each).

We’ll meetup at Altstetten station where we’ll pick up the car and drive out from there.

You can join us at the bottom of the Trifftbahn if you are coming from elsewhere.

What to bring:
– sturdy climbing shoes (the climb is of moderate difficulty)
– water
– sandwiches
– money for the car
– appropriate clothing
– hiking stick if you have one

After the cable car, the hike up to the bridge is about 1hr 30 mins. We’ll meet up at 8am (location to be confirmed) and aim to be back in the late afternoon around 4-5pm.
