This hike has been on our wish list for 3 years, but for one reason or another we’ve always had to cancel it. Let’s try once again!

On the Swiss National Day, 1 August we’ll be travelling to Ticino for a great ridge-hike from Monte Tamaro to Monte Lema, inshallah. This hike offers amazing views of the cities, towns and lakes below, and even into Italy.

Programme

0650: meet under Blue Angel at HB*
0709 – 0847: Zurich – Bellinzona (pl. 9)
0902 – 0915: Bellinzona – Rivera-Bironico (pl. 4)
0930: cable car to Alpe Foppa
0945 – 1530: hike

* if you are not travelling from Zurich and wish to join us in Ticino, please aim to meet us at Rivera-Bronico station at around 0945 am.

After the hike we will probably stop in the masjid at Giubiasco to pray, and perhaps get something to eat before we come back to Zurich, aiming to get back by 20:00

Please note: this is a moderate difficulty hike, so you should be reasonably fit and able to keep up with the group

What you need to bring

• Hiking boots <– this is a must. Without hiking shoes we cannot allow you to join
• A hat and sunglasses
• Suncream – the weather looks hot!
• Lunch, snacks and water (at least 2litres)
• A walking stick if you need one
• A smile!
